Great piece of recreational land on the edge of the small community of Edgewater. The land is mostly forested with a more open area towards the south. The main geographic feature is a small canyon that cuts into the land from east to west and then turns north and extends close to the northern end of land.

A well-established roadway follows this canyon providing great access throughout the land. The land has some variations with a few step ups and downs, flat benches and some more gradually slopping land. There are also a number of smaller trails around the land making it ideal for motor cross, hiking, mountain biking and or horses.

    Edgewater, BC

Accessed from within the community of Edgewater off of Edgewater Station Road (to stay on Edgewater Station Road and not end up at the train tracks you take the left fork in the road - see maps). This is a gravel road which is pretty rutty near the land.

One can also access the land off of Columbia Road, then turn onto Hammond and follow it to the end where it turns into Bench Rd (an unbuilt road). See maps. No snow clearing on this last road section, but you avoid driving by the Edgewater sewer system and eventually the plan is to build and maintain this road as the town grows.

    Area Data

Edgewater is an unincorporated hamlet located in the Columbia Valley on the perimeter of Kootenay National Park and adjacent to the spectacular Columbia River. Originally known and founded as a farming community before the First World War. The community of 550 residents has since established itself into a forestry, agriculture and tourism area for the region. The community gets its name from being the edge of the waters of the Columbia River. There is a golf course, general store/gas station and most commercial services are only 10 kilometres south in Radium or another 5 mins to Invermere.

    Columbia Valley

The Rocky Mountain Trench, known as the Columbia Valley, is surrounded by the BC Rocky Mountains on the east and the Purcell Mountains to the west. Both are impressively high and rugged ranges. The Columbia River, with its headwaters in Columbia Lake, rolls through the southern part of the valley northward for more than 200 km before bending southward and heading west to the Pacific Ocean. This broad waterway is an important stopover on the semi-annual migration route for wildlife and offers world renowned bird watching. The climate here is one of Canada’s most desirable with lots of sunshine and long summers with minimal winter precipitation low in the valley but lots of top in the mountains.

There is a small community golf course in Edgewater and several other courses within a 20-minute drive to the property. The land itself is ideal for motor cross sports, mountain biking, hiking or horses with numerous well established trails throughout. Hunting is great in the area with lots of wildlife, small birds, lots of elk, deer, turkeys, and bears can be found on the land
