HISTORY OF LANDQUEST®
LandQuest Realty® Corporation was borne out of the need for a real estate company that knows and understands the rural real estate market throughout the entire province of British Columbia.
People need to be able learn what the province has to offer, what region, climate, neighbourhood and property best matches their needs and lifestyle.
Recognizing the need for a company with the expertise and skill to market BC’s unique and wide-ranging properties Richard Osborne and Rudy Nielsen started LandQuest® Realty Corporation in the spring of 1996.
Rich Osborne’s real estate career began in Prince Rupert in 1971 and from the beginning he had a market niche selling oceanfront, islands, acreages and timbered properties on the north and central coast, and Haida Gwaii.
Rudy Nielsen’s real estate career began in Prince George in 1966 where he built Yellowhead Realty with offices in north and central BC with a niche market specializing in selling rural properties. Now the owner of well-known BC companies NIHO Land and Cattle Company and Landcor® Data Corporation, Rudy pioneered the use of computers for finding, analyzing, appraising and marketing real estate. Between them they have over 100 years of real estate experience.
Today the niche market principal remains the core of the LandQuest® business model.
They developed a comprehensive marketing program to maximize exposure of their listings to the broadest possible range of potential buyers.
They invested heavily in print advertising, produced and mailed the very popular LANDQUEST BC PROPERTIES CATALOGUE and sold a lot of real estate but they needed a broader reach.
Knowing the internet was the key to reaching the global market they built a web site and launched landquest.com. It was not a typical real estate web site, it had to deliver the most comprehensive information in the industry with maps, plans, descriptive text, history and photographs that would “tell the story and paint the picture”, unlocking all the layers of value and giving buyers around the world the information they need to make a buying decision.
The original concept was to sell remote and recreational properties but the need was far broader. LandQuest® now specializes in marketing ranches, farms, oceanfront, private islands, marinas, lodges, resorts, lakefront, riverfront, recreational, development, investment, unique, trophy, timbered, fishing and hunting properties and court ordered sales throughout British Columbia.
In 2017 LandQuest® received Trademark approval for “Marketing British Columbia to the World”.
