    Description

These two lakefront lots are within the Stump Lake bare land strata community. Situated in the southern area of the development, the lots offer the best privacy, vistas, and property size. Renowned Stump Lake offers outstanding year-round fishing, boating, and watersports—without motor restrictions. The warm water creates a comfortable environment for swimming and cooling off in the heat of summer. Adding to the lake’s attraction, the waters remain relatively uncrowded and calm.

The larger property sizes permit more uses within the development, including equestrian pursuits and tending farm animals with plenty of elbow room for a barn, paddock, and animal shelters. With a lengthy and warm growing season, gardening can satisfy the ‘green thumb’ while filling your pantry and freezers. There is plenty of room for your dream home, hobby farm or cottage overlooking the lake. It’s not difficult to imagine enjoying a morning coffee overlooking the sweeping views, enjoying family and friends for a BBQ with a day of fishing and watersports, then watching the sunsets reflect in the lake and disappear over the rolling grasslands.

There are plentiful trail riding opportunities exiting the eastern property lines and onto extensive Crown land. Enjoy this ‘backyard’ whether on motorized options, horseback, or pedaling! If a hike suits your outdoor enjoyment, this area is ideal for a purposeful hike or stroll through the rolling hills, grasslands, wildlife, and fauna with a camera or paintbrush in hand. The lakefront directly from your pebble beach awaits—to provide a cooling soak after a day of exploration.

    Additional Information:

    • Both lots are partially fenced
    • Lot 41 has a horse corral/pen area
    • Lot 43 has a well-built horse shelter (currently enclosed for storage), an irrigated upper paddock, road access to the lake, and a private boat launch

    Area Data

Golden Quill and Stump Lake is an unincorporated settlement in the Upper Nicola Valley. The lake is well known for its fishing and watersports opportunities, and is one of the closest lakes to Vancouver that offer both. Stump Lake is 1,927 acres, six miles long and one mile wide at an elevation of 750 m (2,460 ft). It freezes over every winter for great winter fun.

The Nicola Valley's range of wildlife and vegetation varies dramatically with terrain and elevation, and the entire valley is filled with amazing natural attractions. Wind erosion has created unique formations in the walls of Windy Canyon near Merritt, and ancient Glacial Shorelines of 10,000-year-old glacial lakes are visible in the grasslands, particularly along Highway 5A north of Merritt. Ancient volcanic Lava Cliffs are viewed along the hiking trail at Monck Provincial Park.

Historic Quilchena, on the east shore of Nicola Lake, is 32 km from Stump Lake. The remote Quilchena Hotel captures the ambiance of southwestern British Columbia’s cattle country.

Feature films such as The Wicker Man and Battlestar Galactica had key scenes shot in the lake area. Several car manufacturers, Toyota, Hummer, Ford, and Harley Davidson, have taken advantage of the serene atmosphere, long winding roadway, and rolling hills within the picturesque setting to shoot commercials. The grasslands are a popular location given the ability to emulate prairie, frontier, and otherworldly environments. The Thompson-Nicola Film Commission (TNFC) promotes the area to filmmakers around the world.

    Vegetation

The diverse landscape is a network of interacting habitats, including rolling grasslands, evergreen and deciduous forests, lakes, rocky areas, and wetlands which are the homeland of moose, deer, eagles, black bears, and coyotes.

    Recreation

This is a four-season property that ticks all the boxes for the outdoor enthusiast. With plenty of room for horses, ATVs, recreational vehicles, and boats of all types (no motor restrictions)—this lake right at your fingertips is paradise! Additionally, the warm water creates a comfortable environment for swimming and cooling off in the heat of summer. Despite all these attractions, the waters remain relatively uncrowded and calm.

    Water Sports

Unrestricted lake activities invite thrill seekers to indulge. Whether wakeboarding, wake surfing, water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, or kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, or a leisurely float on an inflatable, there is something for everyone to participate.

    Fishing

Fishing is plentiful in this lake and with the annual stocking of the lake, it is hard not to imagine catching your limit. Plenty for a BBQ and stocking your freezer! 145,000 kokanee and rainbow trout were released in 2023, with another 70,000 drop for 2024. Trolling the lake or casting at the northern/southern ends of the lake can prove to be productive.

    Land Adventures

There are plentiful trail riding opportunities past the eastern property line and onto extensive Crown land. The lake awaits—to provide a cooling soak after a day of exploration.

For other rugged land-based sports, the valley’s terrain has much to offer. Rock climbers can test their skills traversing the bluffs of Kamloops Lake at Six Mile Hill Protected Area or the incredible limestone at Marble Canyon Provincial Park. There are numerous other trails and back roads throughout the valley to explore. Sun Peaks just northeast of Kamloops provides extensive snow sports activities.

    Camping

With plenty of area BC Parks to choose from, Stump Lake Recreation campsite lies on the southeast side of the lake. With only 16 sites in this sheltered bay, the campground is a peaceful destination with the benefit of a boat launch and a sizeable fishing dock.
