    Description

Beautiful and very private lakefront cattle ranch with 2 homes. The property features 102 acres of quality land (plus grazing licence and 160-acre lease) and almost 3,000 ft. of frontage on Dragonfly Lake. This well setup and very scenic cattle ranch is made up of productive hay land (approx. 150 tons of hay), 50+ acres of recently cleared land with approx. 20 acres of it stumped and close to being seeded. The property is 100% surrounded by Crown land with 20,000 acres of adjacent range land included in the sale. The range land currently supports 58 cow calf pairs, 3 bulls and 10 yearlings (potential to expand the AUMs with some fencing work and application). In addition to the 20,000-acre grazing licence the is an agricultural lease on a 160-acre section of land between the property and Deka Lake. It is also worth mentioning there is lots of yard space around the 2 homes—ideal for the kids to play, gardening, etc. and of course the lake is right there for swimming, canoes/kayaks, paddle boards and or a small-motorized boat. The range land also offers some amazing trails to cruise on foot, quad or horse adding to its recreational appeal.

The main house is a Lindal Cedar, offering 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and over 4,400 sq. ft. of living space. It boasts a solarium overlooking the lake, wrap-around porch, walk-out basement, stamped patio with a fire pit, and an open-concept kitchen. The second home (log construction) has 3,500 sq. ft. with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and would be ideal for a family with kids, entertaining guests, or perhaps for a ranch hand. The second would also as the absolute perfect mortgage helper with monthly income from a strong rental market for this type of property.

Additionally, the property includes two 30' x 70' equipment sheds—one with attached wings for heifers and the other used for hay storage. There is also a 10-stall barn (5 indoor and 5 covered outdoor) with a hay loft and a heated tack room … a very well setup cattle ranch that has been enjoyed for decades by its current owners.

The primary industries of 100 Mile House are forestry and ranching. Log home building and tourism are also an important part of the community.

    Fishing

The Bridge Lake area is known as one of the best places in British Columbia to catch fish. In this region, anglers primarily fish for rainbow trout; sometimes for kokanee, char and brook trout. Various lakes are well known for trophy fishing with rainbow trout often ranging in weight, from 14 to 16 lbs. Interlakes resorts and shops can supply you with all of your fishing needs. During the winter ice fishing is also a popular sport and is practiced on many of the lakes in this area.

    History

100 Mile House was originally known as Bridge Creek House, named after the creek running through the area. Its origins as a settlement go back to the time when Thomas Miller owned a collection of ramshackle buildings serving the traffic of the gold rush as a resting point for travellers moving between Kamloops and Fort Alexandria, which was 158 km (98 miles) north of 100 Mile House farther along the HBC Brigade Trail. It acquired its current name during the Cariboo Gold Rush where a roadhouse was constructed in 1862 at the 100 mile mark up the Old Cariboo Road from Lillooet.

In 1930 Lord Martin Cecil left England to come to 100 Mile House and manage the estate owned by his father, the 5th Marquess of Exeter. The estate's train stop on the Pacific Great Eastern (now CNR) railway is to the west of town and called Exeter. The town, which at the time consisted of the roadhouse, a general store, a post office, telegraph office and a power plant, had a population of 12. The original road house burned down in 1937.

100 Mile House residents often go by the demonym BX'ers, in relation to Barnard's Express.

100 Mile House is on Secwepemc unceded territory. The nearest Secwepemc band is the Tsq'escen, for whom a geographic reference point is the Canim Lake Reserve.

Lone Butte was once the Cariboo Region’s largest town and a busy centre for the ranchers who settled in the area from the early 1900s to the 1950s. At that time, Lone Butte was much larger than 100 Mile House with stockyards, lumber mills and the Lone Butte Hotel, which dates back to the 1920s. The boom of gold rush driven prospectors, trades people and early pioneers eventually ran dry.

Today, Lone Butte is a quiet little town with restaurants, cafes, shops and a BC Railway station. This area is known for its countless lakes providing great swimming, boating, and fishing as well as guest ranches and campgrounds. ATVing, snowmobiling and horseback riding are also popular activities.
