Near Alexis Creek are Battle Rock and Bull Canyon, sites of numerous fierce battles fought against the Chilcotin, who were defending their territory against invasions from the Shuswap and Bella Coola tribes.

The history of the little village dates back to the early 1900s when a young Irishman, Alex Graham, moved his family down from the Graham Meadows above Alexis Creek and began building the C-1 Ranch. He is often called the founder of Alexis Creek. Soon other pioneers settled here creating the now active ranching community of Alexis Creek.
