52-3303 Mabel Lake Road - Enderby, BC (Site 52, Club Kingfisher Resort)
From Enderby, follow Mabel Lake Road (Enderby Mabel Lake Road) east 33.2 km toward Mabel Lake. Club Kingfisher Resort is on the left near Kingfisher, just before the lake.
Club Kingfisher Resort sits within the small, close-knit community of Kingfisher, where the Shuswap River flows out of Mabel Lake, in the Regional District of North Okanagan. The resort is reached via Mabel Lake Road, a paved route running east from the village of Enderby through the rural communities of Grindrod and Ashton Creek.
Mabel Lake stretches more than 30 km through a forested valley framed by Hunters Range, with sandy beaches, marinas, boat access cabins, campsites and Mabel Lake Provincial Park along its shores. The lower Shuswap River, a renowned salmon and trout fishery, winds past Kingfisher on its way toward Mara Lake and the broader Shuswap watershed.
Enderby, a scenic drive to the west, offers full shopping, services, schools and a community health care center, with Vernon and Salmon Arm both within easy reach for a wider range of amenities.
The resort is set among mature fir and pine forest; Site 52 itself has pavers.
Recreation is the reason people come to Mabel Lake, and Club Kingfisher puts it all within easy reach.
On the water, Mabel Lake offers boating, water skiing, paddling, swimming and excellent fishing for rainbow trout and salmon, with sandy beaches and marinas along its shores. Just outside the resort gates, the lower Shuswap River is a local favourite for tubing and floating on warm summer days, with put in points around Kingfisher and gentle stretches of river leading down toward Cooke Creek and beyond.
Golfers will appreciate Mabel Lake Golf and Country Club, a scenic 9-hole, par 36 course just a short drive from the resort, complete with a clubhouse, pro shop and dining room.
Surrounding Crown land and nearby Hunters Range offer access to hiking, hunting, sledding and snowshoeing through the shoulder seasons and winter months.
The wider Kingfisher and Ashton Creek community stays active year round through Kingfisher Hall, with annual favourites such as a Mother’s Day breakfast, pancake breakfasts, Robbie Burns Night, a Strawberry Tea social and a Christmas concert, along with the popular Shuswap Kayak Rodeo held each June, drawing paddlers from across the Pacific Northwest to the river’s whitewater play spots.
Kingfisher’s roots trace back to the local response to declining salmon runs on the Shuswap River, which led to the creation of what is now the Kingfisher Interpretive Centre, a salmon hatchery and environmental education centre still supported by community volunteers today. Kingfisher Hall, built in 1949, remains the heart of the community and continues to host generations of local gatherings.
