    Description

The “52 North Ranch” is located a short 10-minute drive south from Quesnel toward Kersley, BC. Your drive to the property will take you through idyllic ranchlands with easy access on paved roads right to the driveway. After passing through the ranch gate, you’ll enter the ranch’s main yard area which has been thoughtfully laid out with a drive-through full circle driveway that can accommodate all large equipment and semi-truck trailers. The ranch’s close proximity to Quesnel is a huge plus as it gives an owner the ability to work in town and run a cattle operation simultaneously. It’s also close to all amenities, including shopping, golf courses, access to the BC back country and much more.

Totaling 466 acres in two separate titles the ranch includes 120 acres of hay land with areas of class 1 soil. On an average year the ranch produces around 250 to 300 tonnes of hay. Additional hay and pasture year to year lease with a neighbor which produces an extra 100 to 150 tonnes of hay. The ranch includes water licences for irrigation on Dale Lake. In additional to the irrigation water licence, the seller has also developed a large irrigation pond which holds approximately 10,000 cubic metres of water which supplies a large volume of additional irrigation water as needed. Water is applied to the fields with hose reels and a 5-inch wheel line. The southern parcel has a year-round creek that flows through, and is the perfect spot to spend a hot summer afternoon. This is efficient ranch set up for one person to be able to operate, taking advantage of rotational grazing through the 9 pastures which are fenced and cross fenced. The ranch has complete cattle infrastructure in place to handle approx. 125 head of cattle. A BC Hydro right of way runs the length of the property, where significant portions of the ranch’s hay land and high quality pasture land is located beneath the power lines, but not to worry, the cows don’t mind. The ROW area is also considered high value critical infrastructure, and therefore the ranch is at the top of the priority list for fire prevention.

The ranch’s main yard is set up with cattle handling infrastructure, corrals, pens, a massive workshop, 2 hay barns, 5-stall equipment shed, 4-stall equipment shed, heritage barn, guest cabin and greenhouse. All your high-value farming equipment will stay nice and dry out of the elements, plus having extra room for coverage storage for items such as RVs or boats. You’ll love the large wired shop with heating and concrete floors. All out buildings and cattle handling infrastructure are located close to the main house adding to the convenience of dealing with equipment and cattle throughout the winter and calving season.

The main house is a well-appointed and well maintained 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom ranch house with sundecks and hot tub. The home has many tasteful updates including fresh siding, post and beam carport, hi-efficiency wood/electric furnace, and more. The home is approximately 3,100 square feet on 2 levels with a walk-out basement and master on the main that opens ups to the garden area. For those of you that have a green thumb or are interested in self-sufficient living, the garden area and yard with fruit trees is something to be envied. The southern exposed greenhouse and garden have awesome growing conditions for a wide variety of veggies.

The seller has a fleet of top-end equipment. The equipment is not included in the purchase price however a list of equipment available for purchase separately can be provided to qualified buyers.

Don’t wait to contact the listing agent as ranches that check all the boxes, water, proximity to town and good growing conditions do not come up for sale often.

The arrival of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway in 1921 spurred further growth, and the town officially became a city in 19791. Today, Quesnel remains a key center for forestry, mining, and tourism, with attractions like Barkerville Historic Town & Park and Bowron Lake Provincial Park drawing visitors.
