    Description

Radius Retreat is the result of a decade of thoughtful development and land stewardship, built yurt by yurt and trail by trail into one of the Columbia Valley’s best-known nature-based accommodation and retreat destinations. Set across an extraordinary, private wilderness property, it is quiet, wild and remarkably secluded—home to deer, fox, bear and a resident elk herd. Bordering Kootenay National Park, Crown land, and Nature Conservancy of Canada land, much of the property’s boundary is protected by permanently undeveloped neighbours.

The retreat itself is established and ready for its next chapter, with yurts, trails, infrastructure, operating systems, brand and a loyal following already in place.

Nine hike-in Yurts are tucked into the mountainside, each positioned on its own private entrance off the main trail. They range from an easy walk from the Trailhead to The Nest and The Eyrie, perched high on the property with spectacular views across the Columbia Wetlands to the Purcell Mountains. Each offers an authentic off-grid experience with a wood stove, solar lighting, composting toilet and private fire pit. A tenth yurt, The Warren, offers all of the same, but with convenient drive-up access.

At the heart of the property is The Haven, a 30 ft furnished glamping and gathering yurt with its own substantial solar power system, wood-burning fireplace, covered outdoor kitchen and year-round water. It opens onto a large meadow with a stage, gathering areas, fire pit and 360° mountain views. The space has hosted intimate weddings, week-long retreats for groups of 50, and Radius Retreat’s annual spring music festival, welcoming more than 700 attendees.

The sale also includes the retreat’s operational base, and all assets with office and storage buildings, a tented shop, tractor and attachments, and an 1100 Watt micro-hydro power system.

Perhaps most compelling is what remains possible. With two gated highway entrances approximately two kilometres apart and a substantial portion of the land still untouched, there is exceptional room for a new owner to expand the retreat, pursue new ventures, build a private residence—or simply preserve the space and live surrounded by an increasingly rare amount of nature, privacy and possibility.

    Location

From the village of Radium Hot Springs, travel north on Highway 95 for approximately 2 km to the gated Radius Retreat entrance at 7058 Highway 95. Continue north for another 2 km to reach the property’s second gated entrance at Elk Park The Ranches.

    Access

Radium Hot Springs is just two minutes down the highway—a vibrant mountain tourism destination with restaurants, shops, groceries, fuel and the services and amenities expected of a busy resort community. Invermere on the Lake is approximately 15 minutes south, offering a hospital, schools and a full range of day-to-day shopping and services. Cranbrook is about 1.5 hours away, with major retailers and regional air service through Canadian Rockies International Airport. Calgary is under three hours away via Kootenay and Banff National Parks, providing international air access and all the amenities of a major city. To the north, Golden—another thriving mountain tourism destination—is less than an hour away on Highway 95.

    Recreation

Recreation is what this property is all about. Surrounded by Kootenay National Park and Nature Conservancy land, it feels like a private park of its own. Step out the door onto Yurt Trail, Elk Trail, Raven Loop, or the certified Forest Therapy Trail. They climb to lookouts over the Columbia Wetlands and north toward Golden, past a resident elk herd, deer, grouse, osprey and eagles. Just over the north boundary, on Nature Conservancy land, is the Watering Hole, with creek pools, a waterfall and outdoor showers built by the current owners. The Nature Conservancy has permitted its use by the owners of this property. Within the boundaries of Elk Park The Ranches there is Baptiste Lake which can only be accessed through the North Gate by homeowners.

Beyond the gate, the Radium Hot Springs pools are minutes away, and Kootenay National Park opens up Sinclair Canyon, Olive Lake, Marble Canyon and Stanley Glacier. Ski Panorama Mountain Resort in the Purcells, or head north to Golden for the big terrain at Kicking Horse, or along Highway 93 to Nipika Resort. Paddle and birding the Columbia River Wetlands, boat and swim Lake Windermere in summer, and skate its trail in winter. The valley has some of the best golf in BC, and there's world-class hunting and fishing throughout the region.

    History

Radius Retreat was founded in 2016 and welcomed its first guests in the Spring of 2017. It was created by a small team with backgrounds in ecotourism, outdoor leadership, national and international tour guiding, farming and education, and built around Friluftsliv—the Scandinavian philosophy of embracing life outdoors.

Over the following decade, the owners developed the retreat thoughtfully and with a light footprint on the land, and intention for future growth and development. Yurts were strategically placed throughout the forest, while existing wildlife trails and historic Christmas tree roads were incorporated into an extensive trail network. Independent power and water systems were established, allowing the retreat to operate off-grid while preserving the natural character of the property.

That approach has been recognized throughout Radius Retreat’s history. It was named New Business of the Year in its opening season and received the Environmental Stewardship Award in 2025.

    Investment Features

A fully operational nature-based hospitality and tourism business, operating since 2017 with a loyal repeat following and consistently strong reviews. Revenue is generated through yurt stays, weddings, group bookings, retreats and events, along with commission-based income from activity providers using the property. Significant opportunity remains for growth, including the return of Radius’ popular winter operations, which ran successfully for several seasons and could be reintroduced with much of the infrastructure already in place. With the land, infrastructure and operating platform already established, considerable growth potential remains through expanded weddings and retreats, additional programming, partnerships and increased marketing.
