Description :

This is a rare opportunity to own a large acreage home in the renowned region of Francois Lake.

The property is just over 70 acres in size and is a truly impressive piece of real estate. The acreage has been partially cleared allowing for a wide array of potential use including agriculture, recreation and further development. The property is remarkably flat and sprawls across manicured fields and abundant vegetation. A private pond is also on the property which can be used for swimming in the summer and skating in the winter. Looking south on the property, the slightly higher elevation offers spectacular views of Francois Lake and the surrounding wilderness. The location is remarkably private and maintains a beautifully rural atmosphere. This is an impressive achievement as all modern amenities are located only 15 minutes away in the town of Burns Lake. The property is easily accessible via paved road, or the private runway located on the eastern portion of the acreage.

The improvements of the property are also impressive featuring a 8,100 ft2 main house with a total of five levels. The construction has striking architecture and an open concept as shown in the photos. An abundance of windows offers a great deal of natural light and extraordinary views of the surrounding property.

The house is comprised of five bedrooms and four bathrooms. Including a 225 ft2 master bedroom with a 5 piece en-suite. Other rooms of the home include an entrance hall, living room, dining room, kitchen, solarium, family room, studio, office, laundry room, loft and study.

The full basement is another impressive component of the home with a spacious floorplan and 10” walls and cement floors. The basement is perfect for indoor recreation and currently contains a workout studio and a pool table. A section of the basement was recently renovated containing an entertainment room and two bedrooms.

Overall, the house has been constructed of very fine quality and is durable and comfortable through all seasons of Northern BC. In the winter, the new (installed fall of 2017) wood furnace and electric baseboards heat the house effectively. The property is on grid power, and is supported by a backup generator. A recently drilled artisan well provides ample water throughout all seasons.

The movement of Old Colony Mennonites to Burns Lake was a project undertaken by the Saskatchewan and BC governments to bring farmers from drought stricken areas to new farm land. The settlers came from the Hague-Osler and Toppingham areas of Saskatchewan. They established the Cheslatta and Grassy Plains churches.

Early settlers arrived here via the Bella Coola trail until the RR was completed in 1912. Settlers made their living hunting, trapping, fishing, cutting RR ties and subsistence farming.
