Sled skiing or ski touring is world class as well. Other winter recreational options include cross-country skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing and of course just enjoying the snow-capped mountain scenery. The Winter Days’ Festival is a must do and has grown in popularity in recent years.

In summer power boating, water skiing, kayaking, tubing and fishing are just a few of your water sport options. Wake up early, head down to the lake/public boat launch, head out on the glass like waters and you’ll be instantly hooked. The area is also full of forestry roads and trails for ATV’s, dirt bikes and mountain bikes and you can also stay very active and entertained hiking, bird and wildlife watching. Hunters will relish with the wild life and challenges provided.

Area Data :

The Bridge River Valley consists of many small very scenic communities including Bralorne, Gold Bridge, Gun Creek, Gun Lake, Tyax Lake and Marshall Lake. The Bridge River Valley's historical claim to fame would be the old gold mines in the valley and each of the communities has its own special part in the history of the valley. Today, prospectors have been replaced by visitors in search of the area's crystal clear lakes for recreation, spectacular views for photography, fresh mountain air, and miles of trails for walking, hiking and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

Gun Lake
Gun Lake has a spectacular setting with snow-capped mountains and some of the clearest waters in North America (partly the result of not being glacial fed but instead spring fed). It is 8.0 km long, 1 km wide, over 100 metres deep in some parts and is situated at an elevation of 2,910 ft. It is the perfect lake for boating, float planes or just enjoying your morning coffee or evening beverage and enjoying the views.

The area abounds in wildlife with bear, deer, bobcat, lynx, cougar, rabbit, otter, weasel, wolverine, eagle, owl, osprey and seasonal waterfowl.

Much of Gun Lake’s charm and appeal relates to the fact that it remains a relatively untouched backcountry paradise that leaves a lasting impression on those who visit.

History : Gun Lake received its name because apparently a gun was lost when a pack horse drowned in nearby Gun Creek during the gold rush.
