Beaverdell is about 80 km southeast of Kelowna on Highway 33 which connects to Highway 3 at Rock Creek about 40 km to the south. It is about an hour to Kelowna and world class skiing at Big White Ski Resort.
Beaverdell is 80± km from Kelowna, the largest urban community in BC’s interior, and 70 km from the Canada-US border.
The Beaverdell General Store has a postal outlet, liquor store and laundromat and there is now gas station in town. There are 16± small fishing lakes in the area many with Forest Service Recreation camping sites and there are numerous backcountry roads to explore.
Beaverdell is in the West Kettle River Valley, which joins the Kettle River at Westbridge 33 km to the south and then flows south to Midway where it crosses into the USA.
This area is in the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) which includes the southerly ranges of the Okanagan Highlands, Monashee Mountains, the Kettle and Granby River drainages, Christina Lake and extensive recreational and wilderness habitat areas. The climate is characterized by low to moderate precipitation, with warm summers and relatively mild winters.
For rainbow trout fishing, you have a number of options available in the area. There is the Kettle and West Kettle Rivers located right on either side of Westbridge, up the Christian Valley 64 km (40 miles) at Copperkettle Lake—requires a 3 km (2 mile) hike—and Conkle Lake about 16 km (10 miles) away from Highway 33, just north of Westbridge on a steep rough forest service road.
A really popular thing to do in the summer is for people to tube the river from the bridge at Westbridge to the Kettle River Provincial Park. Along the way, near the beginning of the route, you'll pass the confluence of the Kettle and the West Kettle Rivers. Just remember while tubing past farmers' fields that this is private land, so please respect their privacy.

When silver ore was discovered on Wallace Mountain in 1897, three towns were established; Beaverton, Carmi, and Rendell. The village of Beaverton was amalgamated with Rendell and the name was changed to Beaverdell.
The local ‘Highland Mine’ produced continuously for over 90 years, until it closed and the site was purchased by the provincial government.
The historic Beaverdell Hotel built in 1901 was a favorite stop for travelers along the Trans Canada Trail-Kettle Valley Rail route and until it was destroyed by fire in 2011.
