    Access

BC Ferries services Denny Island and nearby Bella Bella. Pacific Coastal provides daily flights from Port Hardy and Vancouver. Northern Thunderbird Air offers charter services from Terrace. Area Data

The Inside Passage surrounding Denny Island has many twists and turns. The northern shore rises like a wall from the sea, while to the south, the land becomes flatter and the coastline broken up by coves and inlets. After the straight, wide reaches of Fitz Hugh Sound and Fisher Channel, the closeness of the land makes the passage seem somehow more intimate, and, as the sea is often calmer, more peaceful.

This area is also part of what is known as “The Great Bear Rainforest,” one of the world’s greatest wildlife areas. This area hosts healthy populations of all wildlife species that were present since 1793. The Coast Mountain Range has isolated many wildlife populations from the rest of North America. As a result, the Great Bear rainforest is home to many subspecies and genetically unique populations such as the Spirit Bear and the Coastal Grey Wolves.

The small community of Denny Island has a year-round population of approximately 140 people.

There are many services on Denny island including a grocery store, liquor store, post office, laundromat, cappuccino bar and gift store, hair salon, marina, shipyard, marine/hardware store, fuel dock, restaurant, pub, some B&B or cabin rental accommodations as well as a campground and RV park. There is also a public school servicing grades K-7.

The home is also just a short drive or walk up the road, or, a 3-minute boat ride from Shearwater Resort and Marina, a world class fishing and eco-adventure resort.

    Recreation

Denny Island is in a prime location nestled in the centre of the spectacular and scenic Central Coast. It is one of the most breathtaking and remote areas, surrounded by misty fjords, mountains, old growth rainforests and the wild Pacific Ocean. It offers some of the best in cruising, fishing or kayaking on the West Coast. If you love adventure in the outdoors, you will truly love this place. Leave the stresses of the modern world behind you and find inner peace in this unspoiled, coastal paradise. Enjoy long, relaxing walks and explore the tide pools that team with colour and life. At night, have your breath taken away by the amazing stargazing opportunities that await just outside the door of your cottages.
