    Spillimacheen and Brisco

    The property is located between Brisco and Spillimacheen (locally referred to as “Spilli”) both of which are primarily farm/ranching communities in the scenic Columbia Valley. The Brisco Trading Post and General Store is about 4 km south and is where you would pickup your mail, grab a few grocery items, bottle of wine, fill up the gas tank and the usual odds and ends. To the north in “Spilli” is a great café with some gourmet food items (both frozen and fresh). The butter chicken pies are A++!! There are a couple other commercial services offered in the two communities—another great cafe, a quality little nursery, campground, B&Bs, the heli pick up for the Bugaboo’s CMH lodge—but for the most part it is larger rural property with most services in Golden, Radium or Invermere all an easy drive. Highway 95 connects Brisco and “Spilli” and extends north to Golden and south to Cranbrook. Outside of this year, the highway is mostly local traffic and quite quiet, but with the Kicking Horse Expansion the Trans-Canada has been periodically closed.

    Columbia Valley

    The Valley itself is potentially the most scenic in all of BC with the majestic and still naturally flowing Columbia River running north to south, with the largest wetlands in North America. On the western edge of this wide valley are the Purcell Mountains (access to Bugaboo Provincial Park is not a far away), to the east are the Rocky Mountains. Beyond the stunning geography the weather in the valley is a major luring factor with much warmer weather and a longer summer season than the Alberta Side of the Rockies.

    Recreation

    It is hard to find a more appealing location for outdoor recreation. Within a 30-minute drive of the property are several excellent top rated golf courses as well as a couple executive type/smaller courses to enjoy. The Columbia River serves as a great and relatively easy kayaking/canoeing waterway with the ability to float north right into Golden. Several smaller backcountry lakes and creeks are not far away offering excellent fishing opportunities. But a big appeal to this land are the established trails that lead right into the Crown land and the backcountry of the Rocky Mountains. The first feature you will come to partially on the land is a canyon with some attractive Rock features and potential climbing sites. In winter the property is equidistant to Panorama and Kicking Horse Ski Resort both approximately an hour away. The trials on the land that serve as great walking and quads trials in the non-snow months are awesome snow shoe, cross-country and also ideal for snowmobiles.
