Description : An ideal home for those avid outdoorsmen/women or a couple looking for a relaxing, calming atmosphere to spend their vacations away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner had this cabin built from the ground up and nothing is unoriginal. It was built in 2006 but with the idea to make it look antique. Custom kitchen cabinetry, high ceilings and custom log framing on the exterior of this cabin make it one of a kind. This property is on 2 acres which is easily accessible to the highway to jet into Bella Coola or lose yourself in the beautiful Bella Coola Mountains. It must also be noted this property is 15 minutes from the airport which has daily flights to and from Vancouver.

The cabin sits back from the highway with coniferous and deciduous trees in the forefront giving this property a private setting. The yard has a storage shed (12’ x 16’) and is located near the back corner of the property, which is a perfect space to store all those toys and/or power tools. There are additional options to purchase, please call Ron (250-267-2591) for details.

A porch sits off the main entrance, a great place to admire the scenery, read a book or take a long overdue nap. As we enter the house, you will notice the high open ceiling, giving this cabin a cozy, tranquil and restful atmosphere. The kitchen is immediately in front of us and the living room is off to the right. This open living allows you to mingle with your guests while cooking or enjoy the warmth of the woodstove while cuddling up to a loved one on the couch. The kitchen was built with the idea of a boat galley, everything can be easily accessible from one spot. The kitchen can offer up delectable smells of homemade bread or those adored goodies. Adjacent to the kitchen is the utility and bathroom. A good size room to store those seasonal clothes. The master bedroom is next to the living room and large enough for a king size bed. What better way to listen to the trees rustling in the breeze than snuggled up tight in bed.

In winter, glide on cross-country skis or make tracks in freshly fallen snow. In every season, you may have an exhilarating adventure or peaceful time in the Bella Coola Valley.
Area Data : The entire Bella Coola Valley contains a population of 1900 as of the 2006 Canadian census. The primary geographical structure of the community, both in terms of physical structures and population distribution is the long, narrow Bella Coola River valley. Highway 20 (known over most of its length as the Chilcotin Highway) stretches from the Government wharf (on the Pacific Ocean) through the extent of the populated portion of the valley before climbing to the Chilcotin Plateau, and the entire population of the community lives either on this road or very near to it.

In recent years, the mountainous terrain around (and accessible from) the Bella Coola Valley has become a publicized destination for Heli-skiing, with a number of skiing movies filmed in the area, and local companies advertising access to 1.5 million acres (6,100 km²) of terrain.

Both Bella Coola and Hagensborg have essential services including retail outlets for groceries and hardware, gas stations and repair shops (Mecham Sales and Service), Canada Post offices, gift shops, and places to purchase fishing/hunting licenses. Banking can be done at the Williams Lake & District Credit Union in Bella Coola; ATMs are located at the Hagensborg Shop Easy, Thunderbird Store, and the Bella Coola General Hospital. Kopas Store and Tallio Gas Bar provide cash with debit cards. For information on car rentals check at the Visitor Information Booth as there is no car rental agency in the Valley, however some accommodation providers rent cars. Access to the area can be either, road, air or ferry travel.

The Bella Coola General Hospital has a walk-in clinic and there is a pharmacy in Bella Coola. There is no veterinary service in the Valley. Organic foods can also be found or grown in the Valley.
History :
The history of the valley dates back 10,000 years as archaeologists estimate the Nuxalk People lived in villages along the rivers and coastline.

1793: On June 1, the first Europeans to arrive in the area were Lieutenant James Johnstone and the sailors who rowed his open boat. They were from Captain George Vancouver's expedition and were charting the North Bentinck Arm.

1793: On June 17, Sir Alexander Mackenzie and nine companions entered the Bella Coola Valley at Burnt Bridge Creek. They were the first Europeans to complete the first overland crossing of North America. He followed the Nuxalk-Carrier Grease Trail from the Fraser River to the Bella Coola Valley.

1867: The Hudson's Bay Company established a trading post in Bella Coola.

1894: Some 100 Norwegians from North and South Dakota and Minnesota settle in the Bella Coola Valley in what is Hagensborg today.

1938: Tweedsmuir Provincial Park was opened.

1953: The Freedom Road - including the now-famous 23 per cent grade 'The Hill' -- was opened linking Bella Coola to Anahim Lake and the rest of the province.

Bella Coola exudes a rich culture and history. It is one of the few places where an ancient culture has successfully been passed on to today's inhabitants. Take a Nuxalk Tour to view hidden-away petroglyphs. Visit in-home galleries and craft shops that showcase the diversity of talents from world-renowned First Nation carvers to unique crafts.

Spend time in the Bella Coola Museum and then follow a self-guided historic route in the town.

In Hagensborg, admire the craftsmanship of the Norwegian homesteads; families can trace their roots back to the 1890's. Follow historic footprints. In 1793 Alexander Mackenzie along with his voyageurs and native guides completed the first recorded crossing of North America. Today's sections of the Alexander Mackenzie/Nuxalk-Carrier Grease Trail can be accessed from the Valley. Drive up "The Hill" and be amazed at the grit of a small community that opened this road in 1953.

Check out the Tallio Cannery which reflects the history of a thriving canning industry that began in the late 1890's, only accessible by water.
